If you’re not from Santa Maria, California you might not know about the tri-tip. This crescent-shaped cut of beef from the sirloin is very lean but big in beef flavor. Tri-tip professionals will tell you preparing this iconic dish is simple itself. Just season the roast with salt, pepper, and a bit of garlic and grill to perfection. In Santa Maria, they use red oak logs and a special grill that elevates to find the perfect cooking temperature. Slice it thin against the grain, serve with grilled garlic bread, a rough cut salsa, traditional pinquito beans and you’ll have an unforgettable feast for your favorite crowd.
The tri-tip is a natural product and the actual weight may vary by .25 pounds. Aged Northwest beef hand-cut by a master butcher from Double R Ranch.
Wagyu and high-quality cattle were first bred in the late 1980s, and they knew this was something special in its deep flavor and sublime marbling. Snake River Farms and Double D Ranch have been mastering that prized combination ever since. It is more work that takes precision, genetic mastery, and a dedication to unending refinement and innovation. They control the entire supply chain, from the ranches where cattle are raised to the humane processing facility to the in-house customer care team. It would be easy to outsource but being a pioneer does not mean taking the easy way. It means doing work the right way.
All Snake River Farms and Double D Ranch products are aged to maximize the flavor and texture of our beef. They employ two different methods:
A technique where subprimal cuts of beef are vacuum-sealed and allowed to rest in refrigeration for a minimum of 21 days. Natural enzymes tenderize the beef and allow deeper flavors to develop. The product is not exposed to the air, so there is no weight loss. Our products are all wet-aged 21 days or more before they are packaged and shipped.
A unique process where beef subprimal is placed in a carefully controlled environment in order to intensify their natural flavor and make them more tender. All products are dry-aged a minimum of 45 days which is the minimum amount of time to enhance the flavor.
Double R Ranch Beef are grass and hay fed on pasture for the first year of their life. They are then fed a sustainable diet of hay, forages, as well as potatoes, vitamins and minerals.

The product arrived well-packaged and completely frozen. After thawing the meat, I was able to make two large Beef Wellingtons, and still, have enough left over for a couple of steaks as well. I used some of the trimmings to make some beef stock as well. The meat itself was tender and flavorful. A fantastic product that I would definitely order again! Get the pictured meat Tri-Tip Roast (Aff), or see all Double R Ranch offerings Double R Ranch. Really nice steaks. Tasty and tender. Some of them are a little odd-shaped but cook up great. I pan-fried them in butter to seal them and baked them for 5 minutes at 400 degrees. Perfect Medium rare and tender. Highly recommended. I ordered some ribeyes just based on the taste of the first order. You won’t go wrong ordering get this meat. The packaging is extremely professional as well. Thanks for a great meal!
