Based on a report from Tom Pelissero, the particular Carolina Panthers have agreed to conditions with rookie edge rusher — and first-round pick — Brian Burns.
It was only an issue of when — not in case — this deal would get completed. With rookie contract amounts pre-set as a part of the league's Collective Bargaining Agreement, there are only a few parts of the rookie's contract to negotiate (such as offset language). Burns will be represented by an agent who is well known for being “difficult” to deal with getting gamers signed (the remaining players that are still unsigned are all represented by the same agent), but thankfully this particular saga ended before training getaway started.
Burns is now under the agreement and will report to training camp in Wofford College today with the associated with his teammates ahead of tomorrow's initial on-field practice session.
Breathe the sigh of relief, Panthers followers, as there will be no rookie holdout here.
